APPENDIX A
e-CITATION
e-Citation is an optional Module of the CJTS. You may contact us for purchase of this module. Its purpose is to electronically submit tickets to the Department of Public Safety.
While they have not mandated this procedure currently, we understand it will be mandated in the near future.
There are some pre-requisites that must be fulfilled before your tickets are “eligible” for transfer to the Department of Public Safety. For each violation related to tickets, you must “update” the violation code and enter the “ACD” code. Select the ACD Assignment button to view the ACD assignment form.
This is the code of the Department of Public Safety which will have to be mapped to your violation codes. When you press the ACD Assignment button on the screen, the following screen will appear:

At the top is a list of your violation codes, with the code you have entered for a ticket highlighted at the top.
The bottom half of the screen has the DPS ACD codes, and you should select the one that most closely “fits” your department code; then press the [Link] Button in the middle of the screen.
This link process associates or “maps” all of your department codes with the DPS Code list, and the ticket (citation) will not be transmitted unless this is properly linked.
The ticket screen will now display the ACD code that was linked to the violation code.
You can select your ACD code on the ticket screen.

You can export to E-citation from the ticket screen.
Once you have exported all of your tickets, you can begin the E-citation transfer, with a click of a button.
You can view the file prior to transfer
You should visually verify that all your tickets are exported and ready to submit electronically.
Your file is ready to submit to MDPS electronically.
This file can be found under the folder, “CJTSnx/eCitation and it’s file name will have EC followed by numbers representing the date and time of this file creation.
For example: EC070523214100.txt.
EC= eCitation
07= the year
05 = the month
23= the day
And the remaining numbers reflect in military time when the file was created.
Next, after disposal in court, you will go to the Docket and select the tickets disposed of and choose the bottom right [Export e-Citation]. This will generate the appropriate file for “upload” over the internet to the Department of Public Safety.
Once your file has been created, you will log onto the website:
http://www.ms.gov/ecitation
You will then see the opening screen for access:
Here you will logon with your user name and your password.
Once you have logged on, you will see the opening screen where you can either choose to upload your eCitation file, view the file status report, send an email to the Department of Public Safety, or Log out.
If you choose to upload your file, you will have to “browse” to it on your computer by clicking on the “Browse” button.
The file you want to put here is a *.txt file and will be labeled with the number assigned to your department. It will be located in the folder “CJTXnx”.
